I saw your job posting on the internet, and I am interested in working with you on any project in Urdu and Pakistani Punjabi languages [Shahmukhi script only]. I am a very hard working and a meticulous person. I have two Masters Degrees and more than ten years of experience with the Federal Government of Pakistan. I was born in a family where my mother spoke Urdu and my father spoke Punjabi. So I learned both languages while growing up. I started learning English as soon as I started school. Since my childhood I had this flair with languages and I have been writing short stories, and poetry which got published in local newspapers.
My first Master’s degree was in “Defense and Strategic Studies" from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. Immediately after that I joined Civil Service of Pakistan and worked in various ministries and offices of the federal government for almost ten years. Then I came to the USA with my family in 2002 because my husband got a new job as a physics professor at John Carroll University, Ohio, USA. I availed myself of the opportunity to work on a second Master’s degree in Communications Management from John Carroll University. After completing my second Master’s degree I went back to Pakistan and resumed my civil service job there in Islamabad. For my last posting, I served in the Ministry of Sports as Deputy Secretary of Administration/Management for one year and then came back to the USA.
Since 2002, I have been working as a translator, interpreter, language tester and teacher, transcriptionist, sub title maker and Voice Over artist in both Urdu and Punjabi Languages. I am currently working as Urdu and Punjabi court interpreter with Lionbridge.Inc., language tester with ACTFL and ALTA Language Services. I am also working on various teaching related projects with SCOLA. I have also prepared subtitles and worked on Voice Over projects with some UK based companies. I have provided intelligence analysis to some USA based companies, for which further details cannot be provided due to NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). I have prepared hundreds of Urdu and Punjabi tests in L1, L2 and L3 levels for DLI and DoD while working with Avant Assessment. I have worked on language related financial projects with a German company that was opening its branches in Pakistan. I have also prepared language testing modules for some companies in Middle East, Europe and USA.
Now I use Proz.com and translatorscafe.com as forums to utilize my language skills and experience with Federal Government and other employers to provide some excellent and professional services in my areas of expertise. I am punctual and always meet deadlines. I always proofread my documents before delivery and edit them. I keep my clients updated with the progress of translation and I always reply quickly to any email or inquiry. You will never be disappointed by my work, as working with words is my passion and I always enjoy my projects.
I have high speed internet connection and am available during the day at Skype and yahoo messenger for any instant query. I am a full time translator and can work for 8-10 hours a day. I am adept in Microsoft Office and Acrobat Reader. I can also use audacity for sound files. I have a special passion for computer programs and can understand new software very quickly and easily.
