It is my turn to organise the latest meeting between our colleagues living and working in Northern Ireland, so a warm welcome to you all. As yet there is no set date or venue, but I am thinking to have it around mid-October. I would like to hear everyone's suggestions regarding the date, if this would suit you all.
For the venue, I am waiting to hear from Professor David Johnston, Head of the School of Languages at Queen's University. He was very generous in helping us a few times in the past, and allowed us to meet at the Queens' Film Theatre, so I'm just waiting for him to let me know of the options available.
For the event, please feel free to bring along any friends or family, as it is an informal meeting and it should be fun.
If anyone has suggestions regarding any particular topic or theme that we could focus on, please do so. Any input is valuable.
And don't forget to indicate here on the powwow site if you will attend or not, so that we can have an idea of the number of participants.
I will keep updating the details as they become available, so please keep checking.

Hi everyone, I would like to let you all know of the final date and place for the Powwow. Having taken into consideration the feedback from those people who had a preference either on the day or the venue, and also due to the fact that I will be out of town on the original date of 15th Oct, I have decided to postpone the meeting for Friday the 22nd Oct, at 6pm at Duke’s Restaurant, located at 65-67 University Street, Belfast, BT7 1FY. You can also click on the link below, to check the place out and have a look at the menu. I hear they have excellent pizza, among other gourmet treats, and I do hope everyone will like the place.

Last but not least, I would appreciate if everyone could indicate if they could make it, by clicking on the arrows on the right hand side, on their powwow attendance, and select Yes or No, or Maybe. This would enable me to have a fair idea of how many people will attend, in order to organise the seating at the restaurant.
For any comments, please leave notes at the bottom of the page.
So, I shall see you all there!
This would be first powwow too. However, if I am working that weekend, I might not be able to make it. I often get work in on Thursday/Friday with a Monday morning deadline.
See you there! By the way, why don't you register in our group of NI translators, interpreters & linguists? email me or laura morwood to find out how and receive information on translation seminars held at QUB.

Hi Gabrielle, I can make it on the 8th as said, but was thinking it would be a shame to disappoint all the new comers. We haven't had this many people sign up for ages! Should we leave it on the original date and meet at the pub/restaurant Dukes, near Queens University? That way people can decide for themselves if they want just a drink or a bite to eat as well. The pizza was lovely last time! Let me know what you think.... See more

We can leave it for the 15th. but I won't be able to attend then, as I'll be in Cork from the 14th, unfortunately this was an unforseen situation, and I can't get out of it now! I don't know how set was everyone for the 15th, I didn't get feedback only from Maaike, and she couldn't really make it on the 8th. Dukes is fine, I was thinking myself that it would be better in a pub or restaurant anyway. What about a week later, the 22nd??... See more
Hi Laura,

Dukes is fine, I was thinking myself that it would be better in a pub or restaurant anyway. What about a week later, the 22nd?? If you think it's better to keep the original date, that's fine, but I'll be sad to miss it. I think most people are flexible with the date. What do you think? Should I try to post the venue as Dukes, on the 22nd? And depending on the response, we can adjust. ▲ Collapse

The 22nd would be great
I like Dukes, it's very close to my house, but any place is fine with me. Botanic has a lot of nice bars/restaurants.
