I am presently struggling with technology, which suddenly seems to have exploded. Every agency has it...s OWN in-house software for translation (or at least a preferred SW), its webpage to download and upload files, and its webpage to claim jobs. UNFORTUNATELY these are not always SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE or TIME-SAVING. At least for the translator!!! And as they are similar, but different, not easy to navigate as it is easy to confuse them. Also translation software requirements, if the agency does not have an in-house system, can be confusing. For example agency says: "Use MemoQ, connect to our internet server to download and upload jobs, then XBench your translation and send us: ALL files, TM, xbench report, QA report, etc., etc." Sorry, I am a translator, I am good at languages. This is forgotten somewhere along the line and I am taking up literally HOURS OF MY TIME reading conflicting instructions to manage peculiar software and sending unnecesary reports on my own and colleagues' work, instead of TRANSLATING.
