Source text - German Wer in den letzten Wochen Konjunkturprognosen studiert hat, war zumindest irritiert. Eine Woche las man von einer deutlichen Erholung spätestens ab dem 2. Halbjahr 2002, eine Woche später schien der von seriösen Wirtschaftsinstituten angekündigte Aufschwung Makulatur zu sein. Auch in der Kommunikationsbranche sind die Prognosen für 2002 widersprüchlich. Denn nach dem letzten Jahr haben wir alle schmerzhaft gelernt, wie wenig vorsehbar die Entwicklung der Wirtschaft ist.
Translation - German If you have been studying the economic forecasts over the past few weeks, you will probably have been irritated to say the least. One week we were reading about a significant recovery at the latest in the second half of 2002, a week later this upturn – forecast by serious economic institutes – appeared to be nothing but window dressing. Forecasts for 2002 in the communications sector are also contradictory – because the events of last year painfully taught us how unpredictable economic growth can be.
