Hello
Following a powwow-less March, the Stammtisch* is back in April! If you're new to ProZ or this is your first powwow and you would like to find out what they are all about, please refer to the ProZ.com FAQ site: http://www.proz.com/faq/powwows
Please scroll down to the bottom of this page for my message regarding the agenda for the April powwow - the discussion will kick-off at 5pm, so please make sure you're on time, if you wish to participate.
The London Stammtisch is a very informal affair, mainly devoted to chatting and getting to know each other, but if you have any ideas how to enhance our future meetings, please let me know. There is a thread in the forums devoted to this topic: http://www.proz.com/topic/96710
The nearest tube station is Warren Street, but the pub is also conveniently located in close proximity to Euston, Euston Square and Great Portland Street stations.
See you there!
Katharina

After just moving to Basingstoke from Spain, I looked forward to meeting everyone in late March. So as this one did not happen, I look very much forward to my first UK powwow!
Many thanks to everyone who has expressed interest so far! Following some suggestions in the Events Forum (http://www.proz.com/topic/96710), we are going to try out a new format at the April powwow. Apart from the usual informal networking, there is going to be approx. an hour of moderated discussion on the generic topic of freelancing as a translator starting at 5pm. Some points for discussion: - How did you start out? - Do you work with mainly direct or indirect clients? - How do you market yourself? - Do you feel that your rates have gone down (or gone up) over the years? - Do you supplement your freelance income with income from other sources? - How do you cope with the peaks and troughs of income in any given month?
This was my first powwow and I really felt comfortable despite I didn´t know anyone. Very interesting topics and very nice people
