Dysdiadochokinesis

DDK is the abbreviation of 'Dysdiadochokinesis' or 'Dysdiadochokinesia'. (It is derived from Greek -dys "bad", dia "across", docho "receive", kinesia "movement"). It is a medical term to signify the inability to perform rapid, alternating movements.

Thanks, Lena
neutral Cynthia Coan : From instructions given to the patient it seems highly likely that the doctor/physical therapist is _testing_ the patient's ability to perform rapid, alternating movements; hence one can't know at the outset whether the patient has a movement disorder.

You are right, "one can't know at the outset". That is the very reason why the doctor/therapist examines to see if the patient is suffering from DDK.
