Owner Managed In a frenzy last night I researched ownership of companies in English on the net and found "owner managed", 360 000 hits. So I will stick with that translation. THANK YOU Mårten and Barry for the similar suggestions!

It strikes me that owner-controlled is saying the obvious, i.e. by definition an owner controls a company.

neutral Mårten Sandberg : It is more complex than that; e.g. in the Swedish A and B share system you may own a majority of the equity without any influence at all. Also, a very dispersed ownership cannot efficiently exercise control (depends on how one defines control of course)

Depends on how one defines owner as well perhaps! I despair when I read stuff like "the owner of the company is the shareholders". To me "the owner" is one person who controls the majority of the shares,
