However, before tritely paraphrasing to a 'birth certificate', we need to bear in mind 1. certificación en extracto - (Esp) a certified extract, West and 2. like Guyana, British Honduras as an erstwhile UK Crown Colony until 1964 and, as a consequence, using BrE terminology, such as: 'a certified copy of a *birth entry*, commonly known as a birth certificate, is a verified duplicate of the official record of a birth.'.

: If you had posted the term "birth entry", used in your explanation, I would have agreed with it. But "record of birth" is a birth certificate, as you say, and that is not what "acta de nacimiento" means.
