Glossary entry (derived from question below)
Spanish term or phrase:
mitosis atípicas 0-2 (csf)
English translation:
0-2 atypical mitoses per high dry field (HDF)
Spanish term
mitosis atípicas 0-2 (csf)
Any ideas for what "csf" may refer to?
Descripción microscópica:
(...)
"Las células son intermedias, con hipercromasia, pleomorfismo moderado contorno nuclear irregular, mitosis atípicas 0-2 (csf), necrosis (30%) y citoplasma esinófilo." Written as is, with "csf" in lower case.
My thinking would be maybe "campo de alto poder"/"campo de gran aumento" (high-power field, but the abbreviation doesn't fit) or "cytostatic factor" or "colony-stimulating factor", but from my research, none of these seem to apply in the context.
And what would the 0-2 refer to? There are a total of eight cassettes (cápsulas) submitted, if that's relevant.
For U.S. English (though I expect that makes no difference here). Thank you.

0-2 atypical mitoses per high dry field (HDF)
"By placing a substance such as immersion oil with a refractive index equal to that of the glass slide in the space filled with air, more light is directed through the objective and a clearer image is observed. [...] Notice the difference in image quality between the images captured dry versus those captured with immersion oil."

So in principle "dry" does add meaning.
Anyway, here are some examples of the expression:
"In the appropriate area for performing a white blood cell estimate, there are 1-2 white cells seen per high dry field."

"There are various methods for reporting the mitotic activity, including number of mitoses visible per certain number of high, dry microscopic fields or the number of mitoses present in a certain number of cells (mitotic index)."

I'm very glad to have been able to help.
0-2 atypical mitoses per high-power field (HPF)
The cells are intermediate in size, with hyperchromasia, moderate pleomorphism, irregular nuclear contours, 0–2 atypical mitoses per high-power field (HPF), 30 % necrosis, and eosinophilic cytoplasm.
