Es ist ein Standgerät wie eine Skulptur – mit einer Ausstrahlung, der man sich nicht entziehen kann.

We're still talking about TV sets.

Discussion

Aniello Scognamiglio (X) Aug 19, 2004:
I still have a different opinion, never mind!
Klaus Herrmann Aug 19, 2004:
@Aniello: animal, plants and stones have an aura, why shouldn't TV sets have one? Just wondering why don't you disagree in the peer comments; sorry for creating meaningless traffic :-)
Non-ProZ.com Aug 19, 2004:
well Aniello, with all that technology, maybe TVs are becoming human
Aniello Scognamiglio (X) Aug 19, 2004:
I disagree with "aura" and the like: "aura" is normally used with people, isn't it?
NGK Aug 19, 2004:
I wonder whether the wordplay is intentional.
Non-ProZ.com Aug 19, 2004:
didn't say anythign about that, because I wanted to see if the wordplay might be only my imagination :-(
Cilian O'Tuama Aug 19, 2004:
do you need the wordplay in English too?

it holds an irresistible fascination and attraction

...my take on it, this is a "Standgerät".
I don't think that 'Ausstrahlung' should be translated all too literally.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you. Also thank to Annelie, I liked that one, too, but I decided not to include anything "radiating" :)"

charisma / vibrancy / emanation

This almost sounds like a warning instead of a sales pitch. ;-)

You can really shorten this one: \"It is a stand alone TV, like a sculpture with inescapable charisma/vibrancy.\" :-)

radiating beauty

Lemme try too:

This standalone set is a work of art with radiating beauty that will captivate you.

or perhaps:

The radiating beauty of this artfully designed standalone set will captivate you.

attraction

is a little more "neutral" in my opinion and less person-specific
