I'm sure this has come up before.
Generally, I'd leave it as SIREN and then explain in brackets what it is e.g. (French national company number), or, if you have a particular target readership, then direct the explanation to them e.g. for UK (French equivalent of the CRO number).
It's not Strictly *just* a company number, since, for example, freelance (roughly = self employed, but see previous discussions!!) translators in France e.g. me (!) who would not get a CRO number in the UK becos not registered as an actual company, DO get a SIREN number in France, but for most purposes, the description is close enough.

: yes..must be left in French though I disagree with your last comment...could be confused with the RCS registration number which is totally different.
