Hi,
An new agency that is showing interest in my services asks me to send the Copyright & Confidentiality Agreement signed by regular post so as the can start assigning me projects.
I am used to signed this kind of Agreements and send them signed scanned by mail. I want to know if to send this kind of Agreement by post is something accepted and used between translators and agencies?

There's nothing wrong with this per se. Could be a legal matter or simply internal rules and regulation - it's a fact of life that in some countries people and companies are less flexible than others and you get used to it when working internationally. It's a huge bother that, depending on circumstances, I would simply rather not deal with, but the only thing you lose (compared to sending them by email) is postage and time.

Are you really confident that there's work in the very near future that will suit you, and are you sure they'll agree to your terms and conditions for that work? If so, why not? For the cost of a stamp, you'll get a great new client and lots of work.
OTOH, those of us who've grown a little cynical over the years might just wonder whether they're getting you to jump through all sorts of hoops now with one specific goal in mind: to get you so "hooked" on working with them that when it... OTOH, those of us who've grown a little cynical over the years might just wonder whether they're getting you to jump through all sorts of hoops now with one specific goal in mind: to get you so "hooked" on working with them that when it comes to an actual offer of work, urgent of course, you won't mind that "the client's budget on this one is limited" and you'll later accept that "we can't pay you yet as the client hasn't paid us".
Personally, I'd respond by telling them that I was ready now to sign, scan and return this agreement, and that the original would go in the post the day you'd agreed T&C for the first job. There's no reason why they should refuse that. Unless it puts you on their list of "difficult" suppliers who can't be strung a line.

I have at least two agencies that insist that the contracts be signed annually and sent by post. They claim that it is a legal requirement, but I have other clients in the same countries that don't ask it. Another agency accepts contracts by e-mail, but then send me a copy on an official letterhead, in the post. I don't mind.

I only had 1 agency that asked me to send confidentiality agreement and acceptance of terms/conditions by post, but I now realise I was a fool as I never heard from the agency again, seeing I did not agree to their discounts, It was a voluminous file so it cost quite a lot to send by post so I won't ever again send agreements by post.Not worth it in my case as I should have foreseen this. The agency still asks for translators in the same language pair-IT>EN on other sites. I would verify all ter...
