A native English speaker from the UK, I entered into the world of translation 15 years ago while living in Italy. I went to Italy as a TEFL teacher and stayed there for 5 years, and worked as an in-house translator for 2 of those years, translating and editing company documentation in English, including presentations, brochures, quality manuals, software manuals, intranet content and newsletters. I have continued working as a translator since returning to live in the UK and now work as on a freelance basis.


Before teaching and translating, I trained as a geologist, specialising in environmental pollution, and worked for almost 8 years as an environmental geologist and auditor. This has given me a good grounding in business writing as well as the specialist language which goes with this type of work. I also spent 2 years as a researcher in an academic institution, the result of which I am co-author of several scientific publications.


My strength lies in my ability to produce translations with the standard and style of English expected in a business environment. I actively translate in the general business and finance sector, but I am also happy to accept work of a more technical nature in the fields of geology and environmental science.


I also have a personal interest in cookery and travel and would be happy to work in these areas. I have past experience in translating website content for tourist facilities as well as menus.


It is very important for me to meet deadlines and to produce work of the highest quality, and so I will only accept work when I am certain that I can meet the job requirements.
