Source text - English The Maya often used the platform. It’s one of the characteristics of their architecture. But the most spectacular element of their heritage is the stepped pyramid whose truncated top served as a platform for the temple, as can be seen at the famous site of Chichen Itza. The Pyramid, of course, makes us think of Egypt, but the Egyptians had technical means at their disposal that the Maya didn’t know about. At Chichen Itza, homage is paid to a divinity worshipped throughout the region: the plumed serpent.
A rectangular court and stone rings were used for a ball game. Two teams played with a rubber ball. The aim of the game was to get the ball through the hole without using your hands or your feet. The losing team – or the winners according to some historians - could have their heads cut off as a sacrifice to the gods.
The Spanish took possession of Yucatán in the 16th century. They weren’t interested in the ritual objects of the Maya because they weren’t made of gold. The Maya resistance to the invader was weakened by internal rivalry. The triumphant Spanish imposed the Catholic religion and a very centralised organisation. They imported their traditions. Religion became the pretext for their conquest and the cement of their empire. Despite a leaning towards independence, Yucatán became a permanent part of Mexico in 1848.
The history of Yucatán has been turbulent, but Maya traditions have always remained vigorous.
The work of craftsmen is another factor that helps traditions to survive. The products of nature, like plant fibres, provide large quantities of materials that are easy to work with.

En Chichén Itzá se rinde culto a una divinidad adorada en la región: la serpiente emplumada.
Se jugaba a un juego con anillas de piedra sobre un campo rectangular en el que había 2 equipos jugando con una pelota de tela. Había que introducir la pelota por la anilla sin utilizar las manos ni los pies. El equipo perdedor o el ganador, según algunos historiadores, podía ser decapitado y ofrecido como sacrificio a los dioses.
Los españoles conquistaron Yucatán en el siglo XVI. No les interesaban los objetos rituales de los mayas porque no estaban hechos de oro. La resistencia maya frente a los invasores se debilitó debido a las luchas internas. Los españoles, triunfantes, impusieron el catolicismo y una organización muy centralizada. Importaron sus tradiciones. La religión fue el pretexto para su conquista y el pilar de su imperio.
Pese su inclinación a la independencia, Yucatán siguió formando parte de México a partir de 1848. La historia de Yucatán es convulsa, pero las tradiciones mayas se han mantenido fuertes. El trabajo artesano es otro factor que ayuda a conservar las tradiciones. Los productos naturales, como la fibra vegetal, proporcionan grandes cantidades de materiales fáciles de trabajar.

Avec le premier roi chrétien et ses fils, c’est la foi qui guide et qui inspire … C’est sur cette pointe orientale de l’île de la Cité, que se trouvait jadis, à l’époque romaine, un temple dédié à Jupiter. L’endroit va rester un lieu de culte à travers les siècles, et même devenir un symbole de la ville.
Il y eut une première basilique élevée vers 550, puis à partir de 1163, la plus belle des cathédrales d’occident : Notre-Dame de Paris.
Voilà, le chef-d’œuvre : l’immense Notre-Dame de Paris ! Pensez qu’il a fallu attendre 107 ans avant qu’elle ne se livre à l’admiration des Parisiens !… Pensez au nombre d’ouvriers, d’artisans, qui s’y employèrent et au savoir faire qu’ils déployèrent…

-Keyword research for a list of 150 English keywords related to luxury watches. In some cases, there weren’t similar terms for Spain, so I provided alternative search queries for the Spanish market.
-Review of a list of 65 Spanish keywords related to transportation options in London for tourists. In some cases, the keywords were redundant or inappropriate for the Spanish market, so I provided new alternatives by looking at the data provided by the SEO tool (Semrush in this case). Literal translations of keywords and search queries from English were considered irrelevant and new options were proposed instead, based on real search queries of Spanish users on Google.
-SEO optimisation task for an article in Spanish presenting a new Amazon product. The SEO review included verifying keyword insertion, fluency, Hn structure, the Title, and Meta description. The client had inserted a series of keywords in the text and some required adaptation so that the message could flow in Spanish. Special attention was paid to “keyword stuffing.”
- Keyword research + copywriting of Titles and Meta descriptions for 30 URLs of an international B2B logistics company. Tools used: KWFinder and a SERP simulator to check char limitations. PPC projects:
- Copywriting of Titles and Meta descriptions for a revolving door company. The client provided a list of 15 strategic keywords to be inserted in the Spanish copy for Google Ads campaigns (headlines, descriptions, additional details and expanded snippets).
-Meta Title, Meta Description, URL, and keyword localisation for Google Ads campaigns. The ads were related to beauty products, IT services, travel, and fashion.
