French to English: 5 Multifunction machines compared General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: IT (Information Technology)

5 imprimantes multifonctions

5 Multifunction Printers
All machines tested do what the manufacturers say they can, however they differ in their levels of user-friendliness and print quality. They all offer various upgrade options.
Fast Facts – a summary for those in a hurry…
5 black and white multifunction machines for a medium sized networked workgroup were tested for speed, print quality as well as administration capabilities, user-friendliness, capacity and toner cartridge yield.
The products tested had diverse features, which partially explains the results achieved for print speed but the data gathered does confirm the technical specifications provided by the manufacturers.
The Black and white multifunction printers (MFPs) that our lab evaluated took into account the needs of a medium size networked workgroup. Many manufacturers believe this is an important market sector (sectors 3 and 4 in manufacturer’s terminology) and therefore offer functionally identical models with different speeds in order to deal with various production levels.
The criteria of this bench test were set out as: a speed rate of 45–55 pages per minute (ppm), being able to laser print to both A4 and A3 sizes, having Ethernet connectivity, an embedded print server and an administration solution. Therefore only five current market leader models were considered on the basis of the criteria set for the test. The machines were judged on print speed and quality, administration capabilities, user-friendliness and toner cartridge yield.
Different performance levels were published for the five machines and so during evaluation there were variations in the speeds produced. The Konica Minolta machine came out as being the fastest with 55ppm whilst Xerox and Lexmark were fast on its heels at 45ppm. The speed for all products was tested in standard mode and setup completely as described in their own documentation. Our technicians tested the print speed using PCL and PS drivers with a standard resolution of 600dpi and then a higher resolution of 1200dpi. These tests have systematically (and logically) confirmed that the PCL drivers are faster than the PS, just as standard mode is faster in contrast to high-resolution printing.

Hi, my name is Diahnn Theophilus. In 2015, after 25 years in industry including 15 years in translation I decided to go freelance. I set up The Online English Bureau, through which I offer: Translation, Proofing, and Teaching.
Quality translation is very important to me. I achieve accuracy and consistency by applying glossaries, style guidelines and proofreading. I am a member of the CIOL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) and a Professional member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading).
I have an excellent knowledge of translation tools, with 15+ years use of Trados and 5+ years use of Across. I use PerfectIt3 and Apsic Xbench to double check my text before hand-off. If you need some finishing touches and editing then I can apply styles, a table of contents etc., I’m happy to help as I have advanced knowledge of MS Word.
I specialise in translation for Business and IT (Marketing Materials & Websites, Tenders & Contracts, Technical Manuals). I have an MA in Applied Translation, a BA honours degree in Languages, Business and IT, and a Professional Development Certificate in Management Studies. I have worked for Xerox, Fusion Inc, Peopleclick, Hobart Welding, RayProof and IDC Loctite, I am therefore well versed in Business, IT and Engineering terminology.
I also work on Marine Biology/Zoology projects and translate restaurant menus. As a qualified Scuba diver, I support the Project AWARE campaign to protect our oceans.
