I am an experienced freelance German to British English translator at CARR TRANSLATIONS: www.carr-translations.de. As regards academic qualifications, I hold a Bachelor of Art´s degree from the University of Warwick which largely focused on German to English Specialised Translation and I had additional training on a fully funded course in translation at the Internationale Hochschule in Bremen, Germany.
I gained in-house experience as a translator for my internship at Forum for the Future in London to support their high profile campaign, ´Discover Community Energy in The UK´. During this internship I translated large volumes of journalistic material from German into English since Germany was used as a model for how community owned renewables could be managed in the UK. My translated material was then used to support the political campaign led by the Co-operative Group and the Rt Hon Ed Davey- former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
I have extensive experience in working on freelance translation projects, more information can be found on the second page of my CV. Thus far, I have predominantly worked on legal contracts, marketing material, medicine and political science. My Master of Art´s degree in European Politics and Governance, for which I received a Merit grade in 2011, has given me a deeper understanding of topics related to the EU and particularly migration and asylum policy as well as environmental policies. The latter have now become my forte in the translation industry.
I use Trados Studio 2021 for the majority of my projects.
