Powwow: Miami - United States

Tentative date of powwow in Miami | Mar 1, 2005 |
Unfortunately, the weekend of April 8 is not possible. I will be attending a Medical Interpreter Training Institute. In addition, the Spanish Division of ATA is holding a conference the weekend of April 22-24. Please suggest alternative dates.

Miami pow wow | Mar 2, 2005 |
Since I am in Miami, it might seem easier for me to attend almost most suggested dates but I am committed to other events too and have plans to travel on other dates so I suugested April 15th or May 27th. After then it will start getting hot in Miami. I know those coming from colder countries wont mind that. So, Let us know your thoughts. As we say in Lebanon(Arabic) "Ahlan wa Sahlan" and in Miami (Spanish) "Bienvenido..) Regards. Nabil Salem

April 30 seems a good date. May 7 is even better. Finding a Saturday in which all 14 members are free seems to be difficult! If more people with busy schedules join, it will be postponed forever!

I agree with Lingo Pros, we can keep postponing it forever! April 30 can be, or May 7 sounds great to me. What about location?

According to what these members stated above, they are okay with April 30 or preferably May 7th. Other members please confirm. The date needs to be set in advance to let us keep the schedule for the exact day free to attend the powwow.

Powwow date: April 30 | Mar 16, 2005 |
Most of you seem to be okay with April 30th, so that is the date. Saturday, April 30th, we will be meeting to discuss what our goals as translators/interpreters are or should be. Now that we have finally decided on a date, let's put on our thinking caps and come up with suggestions for a place to meet. I vote for some place near downtown that would be accessible from all parts of the county. Suggestions, please.

I have no idea about these places, but found them on the net in case we decide to have lunch or talk to the owner for only dessert and snacks in the afternoon. If anyone knows any of these places or any other preferably ethnic place, let us know.

Also any kind of less crowded park with cottages or kind of picnic facilities would be nice.
If having an open air meeting, decide if everyone would bring some food or snacks or nothing. Sorry I'm thinking of FOOD, I'm Persian! ▲ Collapse
