Some details
May 9, 2009
Thanks to everyone who offered to bring something. I first thought of taking care of the whole buffet alone, and perhaps ask for some participation, but the idea of an "auberge espagnole" is very appealing. So, if someone wants to bring anything, it is warmly welcome; it can be Mexican, Spanish, Scottish, French, or whatever you like -- the more diverse, the better. If some of you don't have the time / don't feel like bringing anything, that is perfectly fine, too. Really, I mean it.

I would appreciate if those who bring something could tell us what exactly -- and I will take care of the rest. Also, if you are vegetarian (e.g., Mark, if I remember well), or are allergic to something, etc., let me know.
The address is 13 rue Dublan, 33800, Bordeaux; it is one tram stop from the Victoire. You are welcome to bring your partner and kids; my wife, Marie-Laure, daughter, Nora (5), and son, Gabor (3) will almost certainly be with us. There is 120 sq. m. garden, and I hope to enjoy a sunny afternoon. The door will be open from 11:30 AM.
I would like to ask you to confirm participation, along with how many of you come, preferably by the end of next week. (Feel free to post your reply in French or English.) ▲ Collapse

Surprise birthday
May 12, 2009
Attila - a good friend of ours is organising a surprise 50th birthday party for his other half that day and it's not one we can miss I'm afraid. I hope we'll have another opportunity to meet up again soon and that you have a good time. Say hi to everyone for me...

Hi Attila, I am very sorry but I won't be coming this saturday. To be perfectly honest with you we just found out yesterday that Manon our daughter will be going to school tomorrow morning (Wednesday), in order for the school to do "le pont" on friday hence a very, very long weekend ahead of us. So it means that it is an opportunity for us to go and visit my family in the south east (Aix-en-Provence), who I haven't seen for a while. I hope you'll have a wonderful time on saturday with... I hope you'll have a wonderful time on saturday with the others. I'll try to catch you later. We often go to Bordeaux so we can always drop you a line to let you know where we are in the city and try to meet up. Big apologies once again.

Auberge espagnole
May 19, 2009
We'll not be able to come before 12.15. However the food is a bit of a problem as we'll be in Bordeaux on the Friday and I won't be able to prepare anything that far ahead (no fridge). We'll bring red wine and beer instead if that's OK. If not, ideas are welcome. looking forward to an interesting get together.

May 21, 2009
Hi Attila,
I am definitely planning to come with my partner, Gail. We are both vegetarian.... I was thinking of making a pasta salad. Would that be good?

Hi Attila,
May 24, 2009
Thank you for organizing a very enjoyable occasion. It was a pleasure to meet colleagues who, in Yolanda's case, I have known on the site for years! And thank you for your very generous hospitality - the Tokaji and chocolate mousse was an excellent combination. I am sorry I could not stay longer for the workshop - I would like to do that another time, perhaps without the spouses... In any case, well done!

Happy participant and GUEST !
May 24, 2009
It was indeed a relaxed afternoon Attila, after a seemingly endless spread of goodies. I was thrilled to meet everyone there but particularly the well-known and loved Yolanda. We did manage to talk shop a little bit though: c'est ainsi que l'on joint l'utile à l'agréable. Attentive hosts, delicious food and drink "al fresco", on a sunny afternoon, what more could we want? Merci beaucoup pour avoir organisé ce powwow en famille.

Hi everyone, and especially Attila. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, and for making us feel so welcome in Bordeaux. So much wonderful food, and faces I could finally connect in real life with those static ones on ProZ. We just spent several wonderful days visiting with "Oddie" in her own home town of Tiffauges. "Oddie" lives closer than a stone's throw to the magnificent ruins of Gil de Rais' castle.
We are now camping on the coast of Brittany.
Hint: I hope one of you folks will consider organizing another Powwow in Bordeaux for next year at the same time, so we can come back to visit there again!
