Delete the other partition??? Jun 15, 2009

Hello,

strange having the same operating system on two partitions. Why don't you just delete one partition from within Windows? The start partition cannot be deleted when running XP.

Regards

Noe

Hi Noe,
Thank you for your response. Sorry if I was not clear enough.
Having two Windows installed on two partitions, I would like to remove one of the two Windows.

Format the partition Jun 15, 2009

Save all you documents and other personal files from the partition where you want to Windows over to the other partition (the one where you want to keep Windows). The format the partition from the "remaining" partition.

Thoug, I agree with Noe. Why do you have two installtions of the same OS on one computer?

Formatted Jun 15, 2009

Hi Lars,
Thank you for your response.
It was installed by mistake on two parttitions.
I have already formatted the partition which has the unnecessary Windows. But at every startup, there is a message asking me to choose one OS. Is it any possible to have just one Windows the default OS?

Check this post Jun 15, 2009

It explains how to delete the choice of an OS at startup - as you have already deleted one of them - this option became completely useless.

Good luck

Hi Stanislaw,
Finally done!
I followed almost the same procedure, which is provided in Romanian language, perhaps unfortunately, at http://www.stealthsettings.com/remove-dual-boot-windows-7-windows-vista-xp.html/

The procedure is as follows:
1. Run … -> msconfig -> OK
2. In the panel that opens "System Configuration", click "Boot". Choose the OS you would like to remove and press "Delete", Apply & OK.
3. Then restart and you are done.

Grateful thanks Stanislaw, Lars and Noe for your kind response.
