Det blev helt fel "part hör ihop med integral" (stryk mitt förslag)
Example sentence:

“the integral part needlework played in the lives of these women and how it allowed them to express themselves in a male dominated society.”

I think this may be the term in this context. See this US link for similar English-language content:

detaljsömnad can be contrasted with plaggsömnad, e.g.:

I samtliga kurser ingår mönsterkonstruktion, formgivning, fackteckning, detaljsömnad, plaggsömnad och datahantering av mönster.

basic sewing techniques

I think "detaljsömnad" refers to the sewing of pockets, hems, linings, darts, buttonholes etc, and is most often referred to as "basic sewing techniques" in English. I have several books on sewing and none of them have a term that collectively groups "the sewing of details on garments" other than to call them basic sewing techniques (or basic garment sewing techniques). I hope that helps.

agree amgt : or just "sewing techniques", see Google

Thanks Ann-Marie. I agree that you can also just use "sewing techniques". The "basic" is only necessary if you are also talking about advanced dressmaking techniques at the same time.
neutral Alison MacG : I too originally thought of basic sewing, but explored other ideas when I found course descriptions and listings like this: "sömnad med detaljsömnad" http://fhskola.ltblekinge.se/download/18.694f5a9f1133e1c7f21...

I agree Alison - my answer is certainly not cast in stone. But in many course outlines and in all of my own sewing books the term used collectively to describe linings, facings, buttonholes etc, is simply basic sewing techniques/sewing techniques.
