inhibition

Swedish to English Law/Patents Law (general)
xxx yrkar inhibition av tingsrättens beslut...

Demand that the ruling of the Court of First Instance be retracted...?

I would also be interested in hearing views on the translation of 'tingsrätten'.

retraction

think 'retraction'/retracted is fine - have seen it on google, plus the verb is given as 'retract' in Gulberg.
Tingsrätten - don't think it's court of the first instance. It can depend where the court is, e.g. if Stockholm, it's Stockholm City Court, G'berg/Malmö = City Court, if a smaller place, a district court. I've always translated it as City Court (but will stand corrected if anyone knows better!)

agree Kristina Thorne : District court according to eurodicautom.

Thanks, Kristina!
agree Christine Andersen : There is no UK equivalent according to 'Ordlista för domstolsväsendet', but it suggests district court, which is used in the US. http://www.dom.se/dom/DVhemsida/Domstolsvasendet/ordlista.pd...

Thanks, Christine! I agree - there isn't an exact equivalent here - even 'magistrate's court' was mentioned in Gulberg, but they deal with specific offences here.
