Discussion

Christian Schoenberg Feb 8, 2008:
Hi Stephen and Madeleine: You have a point there Madeleine. It could be related to credit for time served... /Christian
Hit the wrong key again. Disregard the half finished sentence please. (and of course it should be "ekonomi".
Contrext please. Är det avräkning av tid, t.ex tiden en person redan har suttit inne innan domen faller? Eller har det att göra med KVs ekomoni? Eller t.o.m.

Proposed translations

1 day 22 hrs
Selected

parole credit; good time allowance

If the correctional or detention centre etc. is referring the case back to the sentencing or case-reviewing court, it is likely to be Christian's second thoughts: a parole application for early release, whilst a 'disposal of the case' only in the widest sense of the term.

Though good time allowance is US/Can, there should be little problem understanding it in the UK etc.

Very unsure. I'm not sure if this is even used in law..

Thanks. I've used the word a great deal in different contexts, and I remember it's Swedish equivalent being 'avräkning' on a number of occasions. It's settled then ;)

1 hr

determination of the case

I think you may want to consider rewording the phrase instead. My suggestion would be:

Kriminalvården har lämnat domstolen en underrättelse o
m att det finns uppgifter hos KV som är av betydelse för avräkning

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has notified the Court that it has information of significance to the Court's determination of [or ruling; or decision in] the case.

20 hrs

calculation of time (served or to be served)

This appears to be dealing with early release. So avräkningen can be of time served, or in the case of a lowering of the sentence, with time to be served.
