Discussion

moken Nov 5, 2008:
Hi Lisa. This doesn't seem to me to mean anything more than 'ceilings'. Perhaps they chose "bajo tejado" just to indicate that this is a loft/attic suite (is that the right term?). Maybe 'loft suite ceilings" or indicate loft suite elsewhere? :O)

That's what we called it at home when I was a kid.

upper wall

it sounds like more than just a cornice - I imagine wide bands of wooden decoration and this is all I can think of at the moment!

loft space

Not too sure about this but found this in Spanish which seems to indicate loft space:
Un caso muy especial son las ventanas para el tejado. El alto valor del suelo y su repercusión en el metro cuadrado,
unido a las enormes posibilidades decorativas de los espacios bajo tejado, han desencadenado una revalorización de
zonas que antes estaban reservadas a los trasteros.
What do you think?

Loft space is perhaps not best translation but hope you know what I mean.

Looks like Alvaro and I are thinking along the same lines.

Thanks
agree Grace Horsley : I agree, but maybe 'loft area'

Thanks
neutral Wendy Cummings : I think the idea is right, but for me "loft" brings to mind a dusty dark place where you store old boxes. Does it just mean that the rooms are in the roof and therefore have sloping ceilings, perhaps with exposed beams?

agree Alice Bootman : A loft space brings connotations of cute and trendy.

ceiling

I am more inclined to think like Alvaro that it is just a ceiling, this is decorated with big timber beams showing. Thence the nordic style.
Hope it helps :)
