La visión de la montaña de piedra había sido en parte cercenada, pero quedaba la cima donde filmé a mi padre y eso alivió nuestra pena. To my knowledge (and after some quick research to confirm my thoughts), tenada is a sort of old-ish way of saying cobertizo. A tenada, concretely, would be one of those structures where you have some sort of roof held up only by columns (with just one or two walls, maximum), and was/is used mostly to shelter animals, but can also be used to keep tools or product.
I'd translate it as shed. I know in english there's more of a differentiation between the place where you keep your tools (a shed) and the place where you keep your animals, but I think Spanish is a bit more flexible, maybe.
I think if you translate it as "barn" you'd ve implying the structure is more sophisticated and big than what a "tenada" actually looks like.
