German term

Bekenntnisversammlungen

German to English Social Sciences Religion Christian missionary work
"christliche Bekenntnisversammlungen"

"Es kommt zu vielen christlichen Bekenntnisversammlungen" in a text about increasingly successful Christian missionary work with a primitive hunter-gatherer tribe.

Could this be "revival meetings"?

Discussion

rogerbaker Jan 5, 2010:
witness meetings One suggestion given is 'testimony meetings' – on those lines I think 'witness meetings' may sound more idiomatic. Meetings in which people (converts or otherwise) give witness to their faith. 'Versammlung' surely gives the idea of a meeting, so 'public profession of faith" may not really cover it
Jonathan MacKerron Jan 4, 2010:
more than a revival meeting newly converted Christians meet and publicly profess their faith

public profession of faith

is the deep structure here

the idea is to get new converts to take part in a public meeting, where individuals stand up and recount ("witness") how they "found the Lord", the idea being that a public profession will help to strengthen the converts' budding faith and others in the community will take note of their "new lives in Christ"

"public demonstrations of faith" is perhaps more a propos here, as I'm not sure if you're talking about new converts or whole communities
