French term

finale iodée relevé

French to English Marketing Wine / Oenology / Viticulture Champagne
From a description from a very fine champagne:

"En bouche, ce champagne livre un exubérant crescendo de fraîcheur, révélant un vin tout en tension. Un exemple d’équilibre parfait, qui, sur une **finale iodée relevé**, réaffirme une vivacité d’une maîtrise absolue. "

I haven't found anywhere else the use of "iodised" to describe a wine. Can anyone help?

"Glass 1 gave this wine an iodized aroma, masked all but a faint cherry fruit quality, and lacked any smoke or spice you commonly see in this Cuvee."

I think that perhaps iodized i.e the Us term is more common, so maybe this term is used more in N.America than the UK. However it is definitely used for fine wine so it seems iodised would be the British term ! :)

aromatic iodine finish

I think that "relevé" here has the culinary sense, as in Collins Robert: "highly-seasoned, spicy, hot"

Not a huge amount of g-hits for "iodine finish" related to wine - it seems to apply more to whisky and furniture! However, that shouldn't deter us too much, given the weird and wonderful descriptions used in wine tasting!

There's one "aromatic iodine finish" here (in the links), as well as a "punchy iodine finish" here. I think I've also seen "hot", so would go along with 'aromatic', 'punchy', 'hot', 'spicy', or even just 'strong'
