it is clear that it is brown light islands and this is a figurative image

a flurry of islands

Hannah Doyle
: Hmmm I see what you mean, but I don't think we could use that here. ''Flurry'' evokes movement (a flurry of activity, snow, etc.) whereas presumably the islands are motionless

: Can do. Although in the Great Encyclopedia of clichés (yet to be published) "studded" tends to sit firmly anchored East of "star" and West of "sky" ;-)

shredded barks of islands
Hello,
They're most likely taking about "tanbarks" when they refer "tannées" (see definition). They're talking about a string of islands resembling "shredded barks" (neutral brown colors from a distance). You need to make sure the appropriate color is in the English translation (more than just a "string" of islands).
I hope this helps.

Discussion
Horizon dappled with islands.
Or sprinkled if one prefers:

... fun under the sun on the Andaman Sea with activities such as windsurfing, or
excursions to the many islands sprinkled like precious jewels dotting the horizon.
Best of luck!
But I do not feel like using the word "tan" what about "a brown sprinkle of islands" - with the idea of DLyons which is mostly liked and keeping the idea of the brown color ???

I don't think islands can be "tannées" until proven otherwise and I very much doubt this has anything to do with the leather industry.
