Could also refer to transient symptoms of limb weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis).
If the patient has right-sided hemiplegia, it usually indicates a brain haemorrhage/thrombosis on the left side of the brain, as one side of the body is controlled by the opposite side of the brain.
