Waste flap förekommer i en handbok för en hylskap i beskrivningen över händelseförloppet när en hylsa matas in i systemet:

o Having moved to the first cut position, the mandrel rotation motor will now engage and spin the core up to cutting speed [Chuck speed - Setter Screen 1]
o If the core is longer than the total length required by the programmed cut sequence, the machine will cut waste rings of a determined length to remove the additional core material. The waste flap will drop and the waste rings will be ejected to the rear of the machine, on completion the waste flap will raise ready to load required cores back into the loading ‘V’ [Waste flap – 6A/6B]
o At this time a request is issued to the transport ‘V’ to move to the load position next to the loading ‘V’, ready to receive the cut cores. [Conveyor Load - Setter Screen 4]
