Thanks for your feedback. I do think it is a matching expression, but perhaps "escenario" might be a closer cognate if you wish to stay strictly close? // Of course! I was just trying to match it up with the corresponding Spanish expression. :)

Me parece que "teatro de la vida" puede dar idea de un lugar donde no se es auténtico (porque se actúa). Creo que con ese sentido se usa la expresión en el teatro del siglo de oro español.
La idea aquí es enfrentar lo que para los antiguos griegos era domus y ágora: el lugar privado y el lugar público.
Por eso me parece mejor usar escenario.
Me gusta como queda el comparativo porque enfatiza la diferencia entre los dos ámbitos, pero por supuesto puede omitirse.
