From a contract:
"Betaling for kørsel i forbindelse med ydelser, der udføres/leveres på kundens lokation, afregnes særskilt efter medgået tid og i henhold til gældende konsulenttimepris."
I have translated this as 'mileage' but would like clarification as to whether this is correct and/or the most appropriate translation.
Thanks in advance.

travel reimbursement
In my opinion it is appropriate here to view the whole principle of covering the transport costs of a consultant rather than just the word 'kørsel'.
The entire explanation "Betaling for kørsel i forbindelse med ydelser leveret" is mostly simply referred to as "travel reimbursement", which also elegantly covers trains, plains and automobiles.
Hope this helps :-)

...that is "trains, planes and automobiles" - so much for trying to make it a bit fun :-(

Comment: "Thank you for your suggestion Jens. I chose your solution because, as you say, it does cover most eventualities, but also has the notion of 'reimbursement' which is key to this particular phrase: "Travel reimbursement related to the services carried out...""

driving or transportation
The word kørsel literally means driving, but transportation is probably a more appropriate word choice in English. Mileage would be inaccurate because the sentence states that they will bill transportation by the hour according to applicable consultant fees.

Thank you for your contribution Lene. |

: I would also prefer the somewhat extended interpretation here. It is obvious from the context that this is to cover consultant fees plus any direct cost for driving or other means of transportation.

Thanks Leif. And thanks for all your good advice on here!

travel by car
I understand "mileage (allowance)" as a term used in an employer-employee relationship (see reference no. 1) while I prefer e.g. "travel by car" in this context.

Thank you for the good solution Christina. |

transport
As your context mentions 'medgået tid', it is more likely that there's a charge based on the travel time rather than the mileage, although it could be both. But I would think that 'transport' would cover it nicely.

Thank you for your suggestions Gitte, and for the note about travel time. Much appreciated. |
