Arabic term

عارضة وراقم

Arabic to English Other Military / Defense defense positions
What is the difference between the two above terms? I understand they are both military posts set up for defense against the enemy, but I am not clear about the difference.

Thank you, Sam! You should get the points though!! I owe you one :)
Non-ProZ.com May 18, 2004:
Glossing the terms Yes, go ahead.
Randa Farhat May 18, 2004:
yes, it should be "Barricade"!! shall we gloss them as "BARRICADE" for and "COMBAT POST" for ?
Non-ProZ.com May 18, 2004:
No definite meanings, Kalila Unfortunately no. I think would be a barricade, and looks like a firing post. Which would be close to your "mi7war qitali"
Randa Farhat May 18, 2004:
did you find equivalent terms for and in English for your translation piece?. we cannot gloss this question without final answer. I'm curious to know the correct equivalent words in English.
Randa Farhat May 18, 2004:
Sam, the term "" is used in Iraq. It means " ", that is .

Selected

beam, girder, rafter, joist

beam, girder, rafter, joist = عارضة
as for راقم, it could be a "numbered joist" or a "sign" mark.
could you add the sentence where it is mentioned?!

Sam, the term \"راقم\" is used in Iraq. It means \"موقع قتال\", that is محاور قتالية على الجبهة.
