Up till recently, when working on Excel files and clicking in the top left "View the target document using the selected preview type" they always opened as Excel files. Now suddenly all Excel files open as LibreOffice files. How can I fix this?

Reinstall Excel? Nov 20

I believe you will experience the change of the default format if you install LibreOffice (or another similar office package) after you have installed Microsoft office. The easiest way of fixing this may be to reinstall Microsoft Office.

Both programs are installed Nov 20

Thanks for the reply. Both MS Office and OpenOffice have been installed on my laptop or over 5 years and I haven't made any changes with them. I don't think a matter of other installed programs but finding in settings of Trados Freelance 2019 where to change viewing outputs.

Try this Nov 20

Go to File - Print & View - View In - check if MS Excel is still selected there.
If not, check the File Type Identifier for your translatable file in the Files view. It must be SpreadsheetML v.1

Also check your default app for Excel files:
Press Win+I - Apps - Default Apps - scroll to Excel and click it - scroll to .xlsx and see the default app. If it is other than Excel, click it and select Excel from the list that opens then.
