I have spoken English since my childhood, and it was immensely useful in my first degree and the subsequent career. But only in the last twenty years I have read exclusively in English what have been written in English, from Dickens and Connie Willis to scientific articles in several fields (Scientific American level, when the subjects were not physics or IT). When circumstances called for a change of profession, I naturally turn to technical translation, which I have been doing, one way and the other, for years. That was in 2002. Lately, I set to follow the courses for a degree in translation, which I recently finished.
