Transit NXT: what does the extension *.MTS mean?

I see Transit files in the format TRAN4ENG.MTS. Windows Navigator recognizes this extension as "AVCHD Video". What does the extension *.MTS stand for?

And the extension *.SUB?

These files are temporary created when you or the programm search for fuzzies. You can delete them, if you want and they are not necessary for reference material.
Just temporary statistics and some background data about fuzzies.
