TransProCalc is a free/open source application for managing information for translation projects.
TransProCalc includes 4 distinct, but integrated tools:
ProjectDocs - to manage project document data.
ProjectAssign - to manage assignments.
ProjectEstimate - to estimate financial projections at the beginning of a project, and
ProjectOut - to crunch up the numbers once the project is complete, and generate a report for invoicing/bookkeeping purposes.

TransProCalc is FREE, as in both, FREE speech, and FREE pizza, and is cross-platform, meaning it runs in Linux, Windows and MacOS.
It is not a free trial, but forever free, as in, it won't stop working in 30 days and ask for money, it will just keep performing, and TransProCalc includes no advertisements or spyware or malware ,etc.
It's just free. And useful.

Check it out at http://www.linguasos.org/downloads/lostpcalc.html

My gift to my colleagues who have helped me become a success in this industry...

Thanks,
Tony

Have you been losing sleep? Feb 17, 2008

Wow, you really developed this into something else! This is pretty cool!

Although I probably don't have any merit for helping you become a success, I will probably find some good uses for this.

Thanks for your dedication!

Well, what's important to me is that you can use TPCalc.
That makes me happy...that I created something that is useful to others.
If my work is useful to you, then I AM a success!

thanks for your input!

Thanks.

To which file do you refer?
If you downloaded the tar.gz, perhaps a windows system doesn't recognize that.
I don't know about that.
But there is a zip file, too, which windows can unzip.

The program itself is a .tcl file, which any operating system released in the past decade should recognize and execute.
It works in windows, mac and linux.
You need to have the newest tcl version running on your system,
the link to download it is on the tpcalc page.

Perhaps if you gave me more details I would be able to more specifically assist you.

just an update Feb 17, 2008

Pretty well any operating system (mac, windows and linux)
should already have tcl enabled (tcl is the programming language, like
java, python, etc).
Most users will have to update their tcl to the newest though, since it
was just released in December.
It is free for download and the link is on the tpcalc page.
There is nothing further that is required to get tpcalc to run.

Not on the front page anymore Feb 17, 2008

Thanks for the effort Anthony, I will definitely check it out.

I just have one question for the moderators--maybe it's just me, I don't know: why isn't this thread on the front page anymore? Yesterday I could see this post on the front page but today I have to go to the recent posts in order to see it. Even older Business Issues posts show up on the front page, but not this one.

I had to look in the sites visited yesterday as I couldn't find this thread anymore otherwise.

It would have been interesting to read more about it, though, once such a program is available just for free!

Hope it gets soon back where it belongs!

Thank you, Anthony,from me too!

Thanks for pointing that out.
I assume you found it because the link for the banner right below the text was correct.
I have now corrected the text link, as well, though.
Thank you.

I am runniong Windows XP.

I have downloaded the zip file and got 2 file with unknown extensions.
Then I've downloaded and installed TCL and nothing changed.
I have no idea how to get this to run.

You should have four files.
One is a README file and one is the GPL LICENSE, both text files.
(You don't do anything with those, but read them).
Then, you have tpcalendar, a tcl script,
The other is tpcalc, the main tcl script..
Both tcl scripts need to be in your path
(I believe that means in "Program Files" in Windows).
For instructions to run the tcl script, look here:
