Today the Russian colleagues received an "interesting" job offer (Gaming). The poster requested something "ranging" between the Dostoyevsky's style and that of Goblin (a curious person, if someone isn't familiar with him). Apart from that (which itself is genuine), they requested a "fair" price. Immediately some 5 candidates rushed in to offer their services. Just thought it might be interesting for the rest of our communuty.

What do you expect from gamers? They need some folks passionate about games and I guess they get them.
"Fans are preferred over professors", they said. "Our regular translator left for a vacation and hasn't come back". Very vivid and simptomatic citations from there.
And the style of the entire post... LOL! Maybe that was a sample of what they mean by "between Dostoyevsky and Goblin" description?

Hi Platon, thanks for your note. But just to make things clear, I myself wasn't excited or nervous or worried in any way. I got the idea -- Dostoyevsky in comics.

what their rates were--those of the translators bidding. That a customer has a certain budget does not mean that you cannot bid much higher--most people do, I think. Many clients are just trying to get a lower rate, but if they cannot, they have to pay more descent fees. I don't know--but it used to be really degrading to expect anyone to work for you for too low rates--in any profession, treating people like the vagabonds working for food. Well, business is business, I understand. But any rate in this case would be a nonsense lable because a translator might either fool around (turn out potboilers), try doing it seriously, though the suggested topic is far from being serious at all, or excel Dostoyevsky (?!) by cracking jokes like Goblin does, higher aerobatics! With a requirement "Fans are preferred over professors" (Platon, thanks!) the job should be funny. Signs of time...
