Hello,

I'm working with a French translation agency and I need their tax number. They sent me a number and claim it's the tax number, on their papers is it however written as "numéro d'identification" ou "numéro SIREN". Is this really a tax number? Or can I get the tax number on this basis? Or does exist an internet page for French companies to find their tax numbers?

It's getting really anoying to bother the agency for this, so I hope some of you can help me!

The SIREN number is a business registration number, it has 9 digits, and is also part of the French VAT number.

For example:

SIREN 404833048

VAT # FR83404833048 (N° d'identification TVA)

However, your agency client MUST show their VAT number on official documents, assuming they are subject to VAT, which is not the case for all companies... yet, you would expect that any respectable agency would be VAT registered as the threshold for VAT regi... See more
