Bio

I'm an English-Spanish translator, transcreator, and language specialist with 27+ years of experience serving the U.S. Hispanic market. My work spans four main areas: advertising and marketing transcreation, AI model evaluation, app/website localization testing, and linguistic validation for healthcare.

In advertising, I've transcreated and culturally adapted hundreds of campaigns and ad assets for major U.S. brands targeting U.S. Hispanic audiences — from creative adaptation through full production, including agency/client consultation, voiceover talent selection, lip-sync coaching, and recording-session supervision.

Over the past year, I've worked on 3 major AI development projects, evaluating AI model outputs for accuracy, tone, response quality, speed, consistency, and overall user experience, using structured evaluation rubrics to assess linguistic naturalness and provide detailed qualitative feedback.

I've also conducted linguistic, localization, and functional testing across 20+ consumer-facing apps and platforms — including telecommunications, marketing, rideshare, food delivery, and a blood-glucose monitoring medical device — identifying language, usability, and user-experience issues in both manual and automated customer communications.

In healthcare, I bring 5+ years of experience conducting cognitive interviews with patients to validate translated clinical outcome assessment instruments, having evaluated 50+ clinical instruments for comprehension, clarity, cultural appropriateness, and terminology — including rare-disease materials.

Since 2001, I've also translated and culturally adapted standardized testing materials for 3 major U.S. assessment companies, translated books and educational publications for 10+ publishers and individual authors, and localized 10 educational apps. Earlier in my career, I served as Senior Editor at Unbabel (2016–2019), managing editing and linguistic quality review for the English–Latin American Spanish language pair across 6 client accounts.

I hold an MA in Education (Teaching English to Young Learners) from the University of York, UK, and a BA in English from Instituto Olga Cossettini, Argentina. I'm a member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and the Houston Interpreters and Translators Association (HITA), and a ProZ.com Certified PRO.
