I am a Swedish translator and proofreader, translating from English, Spanish and Portuguese into Swedish.
I have a Master's degree in translation and a B.A. in Spanish, including 60 ECTS English and 30 ECTS Nordic languages and cultures.
In my Master thesis I discussed the difficulties of translating puns in novels, focusing on Enrique Jardiel Poncela's novel "Amor se escribe sin hache". This made me very interested in translating novels, especially humorous novels.
I have lived several years in Lisbon, Portugal, and I came to learn the language very well. After my time in Portugal I travelled in South America for 4 months, learning Spanish and getting to know more about the cultures in the different countries I visited, and I've also spent 5 months in Spain as part of my University studies in Spanish.
I truly enjoy translating and I am very thorough when I look for information, my mission is to make sure that my clients are satisfied with my work. Being unsure is not part of my job and I always contact my client when I have doubts about the source text, rather than guessing and running the risk of making a mistake. To me the most important thing is communication, a direct dialogue between the translator and the client is the best recipe for a successful translation.
I have mainly worked with railway signalling manuals. Right now I am studying medicine (anatomy and physiology) and I am very much looking forward to translating general medical texts as this interests me a great deal. |
