I do not use MT a lot and straight-out refuse to do post-editing, but I do sometimes use DeepL to provide an approximate translation of long and complex sentences. This comes in particularly handy in legal translations, at which DeepL is astoundingly (and frighteningly) good.

As I said before (a very similar Quick Poll) I’ve been using Deepl as a very, very rough draft just to speed the typing up a bit. | | | N/A - I do not use machine translation | Sep 25, 2023 |
If clients want machine translation, they can find it themselves.
I know others find it useful, but although I do use translation memory software, one of my selling points is that I am human.

Joerg Sannwald (X) English to German MT: Out of necessity | Sep 25, 2023 |
I use it out of necessity. The low rates being paid by agencies across the board and the ever shorter deadlines require a daily output that is impossible to reach with human translation alone. If you want to stay in business and earn a halfway decent living, that is.
However, it's a tool that needs to be used with caution and requires some skill to make it really productive.

It speeds up the translation process and, if properly used with the Auto-suggest function, it might enhance quality.
I agree with Joerg, though, that it requires skill (meaning several months of regular practice) to make it productive without paying less attention to the end result quality. Never use machine translation for a test. I was a victime. | | | It improves my workflow | Sep 26, 2023 |
It's just one of many translator's tools. Being a client in the language pairs other than my own, I have more confidence in the translator who uses heaps of dictionaries, zillions of notes and consultations, advanced professional software for translators, advanced methods of translation, etc., and have much less confidence in one (myself included) who translates 'on the fly'

I'd "engage" more with the following:
If you don't use MT, what is your main reason?
It's a b*mmer
I'm old
It's useless
I'm better
What is MT
It doesn't pay
I'd vote the first four replies.
