I enjoy my administrative tasks and they are quite routine actually. I’m very organized and I hate procrastinating! I do my own invoicing (mostly at the end of the month though I prepare each invoice immediately after finishing a job). I have an accountant for the monthly VAT returns, the yearly listing and all the other financial statements. The only administrative task I really hate is chasing payment: it’s just annoying, boring, disappointing, exhausting and time-consuming. I must say tha... I don't enjoy admin, and I'm not great at it, but these things have to be done, like a quarterly and annual tax return.
However, I suppose I should tidy up my admin folders and dump some material that I no longer require, but yes, it takes me forever to get round to these things.

No. Anyone who runs any kind of business, no matter how small, knows not to do that.

I loathe administrative work, so I always try to get it over with as soon as possible. The only exception being tax returns, which I usually file on the last day possible without incurring a fine, simply because I hate the revenue office's guts.

But not "as the year wears on". Simply always. And then I kick myself when I see the expected payment date.

Apart from invoicing and tax-related tasks, I have few administrative chores. But I do have a problem keeping my desk uncluttered.

Putting them off really has nothing to do with the years going by. When I do procrastinate admin work it is rather because of more interesting projects. On second thought, I have always done it this way.

What a strange question. My aversion to admin remains constant throughout the year, why would it change as the year goes past? Because we all vow to keep up with admin as a New Year's Resolution? The only change I've ever noticed was after going through the process to get French nationality after Brexit, in that I had to produce so many documents for that, which I've just kept in the same folder ready for any later needs. If I ever need more recent documents, well I know exactly where and how I can get them now. It was like an advanced course in French admin. (A whole lot more obscure than admin in the UK, but it only cost me €55 compared to well over £1,000 for British nationality)
Luckily, the website where you have to register your income and pay for social security sends reminders when I forget to do that. ▲ Collapse
I never send invoices for work in November and December, I just can’t be bothered really.

Never do today what you can as well do tomorrow, because something may occur to make you regret your premature action.

The only administrative tasks I do not do are onboarding tasks. Onboarding is a fool's errand. I recently received a request from a client in Italy asking for a receipt for recent payment received. The request being ridiculous, I ignored it.
