at the moment because my desktop computer crashed a few months ago and I have not had time to fix it - good old Win10!!
But I do have the monitors connected to the laptop for more comfort though.

Only with a PC!
A laptop would cramp my style since operational space is limited and open up opportunities to take it with me and work outside the office, which I do not want to do.

I've got a pretty fancy setup with shelves of dictionaries above my desk, to my right, and behind me. Also a great chair, an all-in-one printer, supplies--you name it. I'm never comfortable working on a laptop away from my desk.

Since I moved back to Lisbon last year I have been using only my PC. My laptop was extremely useful when for over 10 years I traveled every month back and forth (Brussels->Lisbon->Brussels) as I found that it was the most fruitful way to pass the time in airport waiting areas, but not anymore. I’ve “lent” it to my youngest daughter…

…my trusty 2009 MacBook Pro (17-inch screen, or ecrã de 19 polegadas as they say in Portugal) while I live out of my suitcase in Portugal.
For my type of work I need at least two monitors, however. I've been thinking of replacing my MacBook for a newer 15-inch or even a 13-inch model. Then I would complement it with a 20-inch thin monitor while here in Europe.

I currently have 3 functioning PCs and 2 laptops. As most of work is done from my home/office, it would be rather silly of me to use the smaller screen and cramped keyboard of the laptops when the PCs are available. I mainly use the laptops when I have to work away from the office for some reason. One of them is more or less permanently linked to the TV for leisure purposes, and colleagues can use it when they come to visit.

I would find a laptop a complete handicap. I need space, multiple large screens and a rack with reference books right behind me.

Hello, Anh!
Yes, I've done it several times in my travels over the years. Some people are okay with one screen as they are accustomed to just click and select the different overlapping windows. I can't do that on a daily basis; I need multiple monitors to accommodate all the programs I run while translating.

Actually, now I prefer notebooks as PCs--I plug-in some 22" display and USB mouse with a full-sized USB keyboard. Why, I do have real and more powerful PCs, but they are mostly for other tasks)

I normally use only my PC unless I'm travelling. I have a large screen, so that makes the PC much easier/comfortable to work with than the laptop.

And they have all proven necessary at times.

When my PC crashed about two years ago, I started using my laptop which I had bought as a back-up and hated at first. By the time the new PC arrived, I had got so used to the laptop that I couldn't bring myself to set up the PC and sold completely unused after about a year. For some reason I found that I also make less errors when typing on a laptop so why would I want to change that?

I use a Lenovo G50 laptop and a 19in monitor alongside it. I used to use a desktop but I feel a laptop is the better option for when I travel and the extra monitor is indispensable. Right now I'm fine but I may in the future purchase a larger monitor.
