I don't generally attempt to work while my children are around. It's not fair on them. And my husband is relatively well treained!

Have no children or family around the office.

I have to say that I try to fix limits to my daughter, but most of time are disobeyed.
(It's hard for a little child to observe these kind of rules)
So, I pretend to get angry (but sometimes I am actually angry).
A hard battle. | | |

when my children are at home my mother in law looks after them, well she speaks to me, when they want something she says: go ask your father, so they come to me. when my wife comes home, she starts talking. That's why I said, well guys, I am gonna rent a place to work if you don't stop. And they stop, for 3 hours!!!

At the moment, my office is not at home. However, in a few months we're moving to a new house and it will be, so I have all this to come!
I don't generally work when the children are around, and so I intend to have a rule that they don't go into the office unless there's a specific reason - but we'll see how that works out in real life!

I set limits on my work so that I can interrupt my family (I wouldn't dream of imposing restrictions while my kids were still small, and my family is welcome to interrupt me whenever they want, as long as it's a reciprocal arrangement!)

During translation, my work room is holy for me. If i work, I need full concentration to my work via my favorite songs...
I haven't a family but i set limits for my neighbours and cousins.

No longer a problem | Mar 14, 2011 |
Interruptions were a problem when I started. People just though that if I was at home I was obviously not working. Now everybody is fully trained.

I do most of my work at the office, but whenever I have to work at home too, I tend to use the time when my 2-year-old boy takes his afternoon nap (which usually is a good 2-3 hours), and/or work late at night after we've put him to sleep.
But apart from sleeping hours, I generally don't let work steal me away from my kid - I agree with Mary here - it just isn't fair on the little one!

...what we haven't been able to do in the 8 years since we came to live in this beautiful village.
Sadly, our office is right at the entrance of our house, and every day some neighbour or other drops in for a cup of coffee and a short (or rather long) chat. This gets worse in summer when we like to leave the door open instead of turning on the AC. People don't seem to understand there is something like deadlines...
On the other hand, it's nice, too.

No, I tend to work on quite long documents, so I actually appreciate a few interuptions from time to time.
