Source text - English 5. Palm OS: If you are uploading data from a Palm handheld, a window entitled Upload Handheld Data will open. Alternately, if you are downloading to a Palm handheld, a window entitled Download Data to the Handheld will open. Press the HotSync button at the base of the Palm cradle (while this window is open) to start the data synchronization. Press the OK button after the HotSync session has
completed.
During an upload to MeterManager from a Palm device, if you click on 'Cancel' or the 'X' button (to close the form) after the HotSync is complete, the data will not be properly distributed to the appropriate tables and the data will not show up in your reporting. You must click 'OK' at the conclusion of the HotSync in order to complete the synchronization.
Pocket PC: If you are synchronizing data with a Pocket PC device, the data will begin to synchronize immediately after clicking the Execute button. The synchronization is complete when you see the message Operation Complete. You must completely exit the POM Comm handheld application prior to the synchronization. You must also wait for any current ActiveSync operations to complete before executing the MeterManager synchronization.
6. The data will now be synchronized and reports can be made against newly uploaded data.
The MeterManager to Handheld option erases all POM Comm data currently on the handheld and downloads current MeterManager data. It is critical that all data collections be uploaded to MeterManager as soon as possible to avoid accidental
losses.
Translation - Spanish 5.
English to Spanish: Quality Management System Manual
Source text - English 6. Authority, Responsibility, and Communication Executive Management shall ensure that responsibilities and authorities are defined and communicated within the organization. This is accomplished via job descriptions, organization charts, and operating procedures. To provide evidence of its commitment to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the QMS, Executive Management shall:
• Communicate to the organization the importance of meeting customer as well as statutory and regulatory requirements
• Establish and support the quality policy
• Ensure that quality objectives are established and measurable
• Conduct reviews of the Quality Management System
• Ensure the availability of resources and the independence and authority necessary to perform work affecting quality.
The Vice President of Global Quality is appointed the Management Representative and shall:
• Ensure that processes needed for the QMS are established, implemented and maintained
• Report to executive management on the performance of the QMS and any need for improvement
• Ensure the promotion of awareness of regulatory and customer requirements throughout the organization
Executive management shall ensure that appropriate communication processes are established within the organization and that communication takes place regarding the effectiveness of the QMS.
7. Control of Documents
Document control is essential to a robust and continually improving Quality Management System. Documents required by the QMS shall be controlled by an established procedure.
When a XXXXXXX location can not utilize the Corporate web based process to control documents and data, then a documented procedure shall be established at that location to define the controls needed to:
• Review and Approve documents for adequacy prior to issue;
• Review and update documents as necessary and re-approve documents;
• Ensure that changes and the current revision status of documents are identified;
• Ensure that relevant versions of applicable documents are available at points of use;
• Ensure that documents remain legible and readily identifiable;
• Ensure that documents of external origin are identified and their distribution controlled;
• Prevent the unintended use of obsolete documents and apply suitable identification to them if such documents are retained for any purpose.
Translation - Spanish 6.
• Revisar y aprobar los documentos para la adecuación previa a la presentación de un problema;
• Revisar y actualizar los documentos cuanto sea necesario y volver a aprobar los documentos;
• Asegurar de que los cambios y el estado de revisión actual de los documentos están identificados;
• Asegurar que las versiones pertinentes de los documentos aplicables estén disponibles en los puntos de uso;
• Asegurar que los documentos permanezcan legibles y fácilmente identificables;
• Asegurar que los documentos de origen externo estén identificados y su distribución controlada;
English to Spanish: DYSFUNCTION OF THE LOWER URINARY AND DISTAL GASTROINTESTINAL TRACTS IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS WITH KNOWN SPINAL CORD PROBLEMS
Source text - English During ureteral urine delivery in the early, untreated stages of the neuropathic bladder, the ureters are normal. The intraureteral entrance pressures generated by the contracting ureteral bolus are also initially normal, as are the radius of the ureter (i.e., the conduit), the viscosity of the urine, and the length of the ureter. Therefore, virtually all inefficiencies of ureteral urine transport that occur in pediatric patients with spinal cord abnormalities are the result of high exit (i.e., intravesical) pressures.
Baseline or resting ureteral (i.e., entrance) pressure is approximately 0 to 5 cm of H2 O. Superimposed ureteral contractions, ranging from 20 to 60 cm H2 O, occur only two to six times per minute.[140] Practical experience has shown that, when bladder pressure is maintained at or above 40 cm H2 O for extended periods of time, inefficient ureteral urinary flow and ureteral urinary stasis result.[99] This ureteral urinary stasis results in inefficient ureteral urinary transportation that leads to stasis of urine in the renal pelvis. Because the pressure gradients for glomerular filtration and renal perfusion through the two unique intrarenal capillary beds are small, such prolonged severe urinary stasis in the renal pelvis eventually leads to renal parenchymal ischemic atrophy of such hydroureteronephritic kidneys. Hinman[61] reported this in 1925 and added that the destructive process is exacerbated by...

Bio
I've been in this business for a long time now and have learned to respect it more with every day that goes by.
I have had the opportunity to translate many documents for many people in many different settings and each one of those opportunities has been a learning experience.
I have also had the chance to interpret conferences and courses and up to today is an experience that supplies me with a rush of adrenalin every time I get involved in it. It is such the level of accomplishment and completeness that it causes me.
Thus, I truly believe this is an art and I'm not very humble, I'm an artist in the making.
Even though my area of experience has mostly been in the business sector, I have been able to get involved very recently with other areas, such as the medical/pharmaceutical and it has been more than exciting.
A few years ago, I decided to enroll into ProZ and started to obtain a more global view of the Translation Business and a lot more rewarding appreciation of the job.
There's plenty to be done and so I am reminded of John Steinbeck’s words with which, I am sure, every translator will sympathize:
‘To finish is sadness to a writer – a little death. He puts the last words down and it is done.
But it isn’t really done. The story goes on and leaves the writer behind, for no story is ever done.’
