I have a broad education and experience - a BA in Philosophy and German, years of dance training, and a MA in Filmmaking from the London Film School. I worked in the British film industry s a lighting and camera assistant and am therefore familiar with all the main filmmaking terms and the technical specifics of filmmaking and photography. This knowledge has come in handy when I have translated bonus material for DVDs. I have both lived in the U.S. (5 years) and the U.K. (13 years).
I particularly enjoy translating subtitles for films, literature and academic articles and books, but the bulk of the translation work I do is of technical, legal, or medical nature.
I would say that my main strength as a translator lies in the quality of my Icelandic grammar and syntax, my deep understanding of the nuances of American and British English, and the broad scope of my experience and education.
