Source text - English Article 7. Right to Personal Liberty
1.Every person has the right to personal liberty and security.
2.No one shall be deprived of his physical liberty except for the reasons and under the conditions established beforehand by the constitution of the State Party concerned or by a law established pursuant thereto.
3.No one shall be subject to arbitrary arrest or imprisonment.
7.No one shall be detained for debt. This principle shall not limit the orders of a competent judicial authority issued for nonfulfillment of duties of support.
Article 8. Right to a Fair Trial
1.Every person has the right to a hearing, with due guarantees and within a reasonable time, by a competent, independent, and impartial tribunal, previously established by law, in the substantiation of any accusation of a criminal nature made against him or for the determination of his rights and obligations of a civil, labor, fiscal, or any other nature.
2.Every person accused of a criminal offense has the right to be presumed innocent so long as his guilt has not been proven according to law. During the proceedings, every person is entitled, with full equality, to the following minimum guarantees:
a.the right of the accused to be assisted without charge by a translator or interpreter, if he does not understand or does not speak the language of the tribunal or court;

1. Toda persona tiene derecho a la Libertad y Seguridad Personales.
2. Nadie podrá ser privado de su libertad física excepto por las razones y bajo las condiciones establecidas con anterioridad por la Constitución o por una ley del Estado Parte respectivo.
3. Nadie será sujeto de arresto o prisión arbitrariamente.

7. Nadie será detenido por deuda. Este principio no limitará los mandatos dictados por una autoridad judicial competente respecto al incumplimiento de obligaciones de manutención.
Artículo 8. Derecho a un Juicio Justo.
1. Toda persona tiene derecho a una audiencia, con las debidas garantías y en un tiempo razonable, con un tribunal competente, independiente e imparcial, previamente establecido por la ley, en la sustanciación de cualquier acusación de naturaleza penal formulada contra dicha persona, o para la determinación de sus derechos y obligaciones de naturaleza civil, laboral, fiscal o de cualquier otra.
2. Toda persona acusada de un delito tiene el derecho de que se presuma su inocencia hasta que su culpabilidad sea probada de acuerdo a la ley. Durante este proceso, toda persona tiene derecho, con total igualdad, a las siguientes mínimas garantías:
a. El derecho del acusado a ser asistido sin costo por un traductor o intérprete si no entiende o no habla el idioma usado por el tribunal o juzgado.
