I am a full-time, professional translator, on the market since 2004. I estimate having translated more than 12 million words. I guess that it means that I translated every possible English word at least once!During that time I have not only translated, but I also worked as a Polish linguistic coordinator and arbiter of last resort for one major networking gear producer. My translations which make me especially proud include:
★ Instructions for a major FMCG company which decided to introduce SAP to its workers. SAP has a very specific glossary, relates to very complex business issues and is usually written in a nonchalant way. Three challenges in one project! This assignment lasted for some six months and included about 200.00 words.
★ More than 50 patent applications for trademark & patent attorney office located in Warsaw. I translated applications related to modern cellular technologies, innovative nicotine consumption devices, sophisticated algorithms for automatic ad placement, maritime navigation devices and many other. I can work with anything that is not medicine and chemistry.
★ For almost 10 years I had been an in-house translator for an American developer of a LEAN logistics management platform. I work with all translation technolgies available. I appreciate benefits offered by machine translation, but I also understand its limitations. I can write my own regular expressions to speed up work, I can make MemoQ do anything possible and I know how to submit a ticket to JIRA.
