Swedish to English: Äktenskapsfrågan av Gustaf Fröding/ The Prenuptial question
Translation - English A plough and a harrow, that’s what we’ll own,
a horse that can pull’em, so crops can be sown!
Plots of vegetables as far as we can see!
Erk dear!
Maja dear!
That’s how it’ll be!
A pig we shall have to eat all our waste!
And ducks and hens might match our taste!
And coffee and sugar and drippin’ for tea!
Erk dear!
Maja dear!
That’s how it’ll be!
Our cow will eat grass fine and lush!
And a bed of down we’ll sleep on hush, hush
and fine china and crockery at mealtimes we’ll see!
Erk dear!
Maja dear!
That’s how it’ll be!
But Maja, Maja how can it be?
I’m too poor and you’re no busy bee!
You go a begging and I work for free!
Erk dear!
Maja dear!
So how can it be?
English to Swedish: Shakespeare's Macbeth: Act4, Scene 1. Revision of Hagberg's old Swedish translation
Source text - English Round about the cauldron go;
In the poison'd entrails throw.
Toad, that under cold stone
Days and nights has thirty-one
Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and owlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
Witches' mummy, maw and gulf
Of the ravin'd salt-sea shark,
Root of hemlock digg'd i' the dark,
Liver of blaspheming Jew,
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Silver'd in the moon's eclipse,
Nose of Turk and Tartar's lips,
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-deliver'd by a drab,
Make the gruel thick and slab:
Add thereto a tiger's chaudron,
For the ingredients of our cauldron.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good
Translation - Swedish Kringom grytan gå med flit,
Innanmätet kasta dit. --
Padda, du, som under sten,
Dar och nätter trettien,
Sov och sög av gift dig stinn,
Gå du först i grytan in!
Brinn min eld, sjud min gryta
Trubbel, trubbel ut ska bryta
Orm, som smög i kärrets gräs,
Uti kitteln stek och fräs;
Sjökräks-öga, grode-hand,
Läderlapps-öga och hunde-tand,
Huggorms-tunga, gadd av slå
Ugglevingar, ödletå,
Koka, -- trolldom i var droppa --
Till en god helvetisk soppa!
Brinn min eld, sjud min gryta
Trubbel, trubbel ut ska bryta
Fjäll av drake, ulvatand,
Gap från havshaj upp på land,
Förtorkad häxa mald och platt,
Malörtsrot grävd i natt;
Lever av en jude hädisk,
Bockegalla, svamp förrädisk;
Turkens näsa, tartarens mun;
Lyser silvrig i månens stund,
Född med diket som dess hem,
fostret strypt får ge en lem,
så blir brygden tjock och jämn;
Sist, att ge rätt kraft och färg,
Krydda den med tigermärg!
Brinn min eld, sjud min gryta
Trubbel, trubbel ut ska bryta
Kyl av det nu med markattsblod,
Så blir vår trolldom fast och god.

Years of experience: 5. Registered at ProZ.com: Sep 2008.
My name is Katarina Lindve. I have my own company, Språkraketen AB [The Language Rocket] and I take on work as a freelance translator from English to Swedish. Previously I worked for 6 years at a translation bureau in Stockholm, mainly with financial translations.
I have a Master Degree (two years) in Translation Studies from Stockholm University, a Bachelor Degree in Art with English as my major, and a Master (one year) Degree in Art (also English) from Mälardalen Univeristy, and a Journalist Degree.
As a former journalist I also do tredit, that is translation and editing simultaneously when an exact translation is not required, rather a localized version.
