'?' INDICATES CONTRACT SPECIFIC INFORMATION TO BE SUPPLIED WITH ORDER
The sifter will have been fitted with a Vacuum rating plate this is normally found next to the main nameplate on the inlet of the sifter. Operating the sifter outside of the stated range could cause personal injury and/or damage to the sifter.
Subject to contract a vacuum relief device may have been fitted by Kason Europe. However, if this is not the case then it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that a suitable vacuum relief device is fitted to the sifter in accordance with the rating stated on the Vacuum Plate.
Note that in the event of the vacuum relief device operating, air will be drawn into the sifter from the surrounding atmosphere. As a result of this Kason Europe would recommend the fitting of a suitable filter to the relief device, to prevent airborne contaminants being drawn into the sifter.

Source text - English Safety Information
Before the machine is commissioned, these instructions must be familiar to and be understood by the operating and maintenance personnel as well as to the responsible persons or departments. Like any powered machinery, a Mixer may present hazards if not installed, used and maintained in the recommended safe manner.
It is Marion Process Solutions responsibility to bring all necessary precautions and relevant dangers to your attention however it is your responsibility to ensure the machine is operated safely to prevent injury to any of your employees during installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. All personnel chosen to install, operate or maintain the machine should be made aware of the hazards provided by the machine and should be suitably trained in its use.
B.1 For your safety
• Before the machine is commissioned, these instructions must be familiar to and be understood by the operating and maintenance personnel as well as to the responsible persons or departments.
• Mixers should be installed in accordance with appropriate safety standards such as PD 5304:2014, BS EN ISO 13857:2008 or any other locally or nationally appropriate equivalent standards.
• Mixers should only be operated and maintained by personnel who are familiar with the machine and relevant safety standards and had relevant training.
• When a Mixer is to operate within a European Union (EU) country the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC must be met before a CE mark can be affixed and before the Mixers can be used.
• Any action which can have a negative impact on the safety of personnel must be avoided.
• Always use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) equipment for the task being undertaken. PPE is equipment that will protect the user against health or safety risks at work. It can include items such as safety helmets, gloves, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear, safety harnesses and respiratory protective equipment (RPE). PPE equipment should be chosen based on hazards present in the workplace and based on risk assessments undertaken prior to commencement of work.
• The user is obliged to always use the machine in an optimal condition.
• In the case of unauthorised modifications or changes, the supplier no longer guarantees proper operation and safety. Do not make any modifications that may create new safety risks.
• All service work to the machine, be it cleaning or maintenance, must be performed when the machine is switched off, stationary and isolated from compressed air/gas and electrical supplies.
• Never use the machine for any other purpose than for which it is intended.
• Mixers can be supplied with a variety of different inlet and outlet connections depending on customer requirements. Unless the Mixer is supplied as a complete stand-alone unit i.e., with safe inlet and outlet connections, it is the responsibility of others to provide protection at the inlets and outlets. The machine must not be operated until these connections have been made safe to avoid the possibility of personnel inserting parts of the body, tools or any foreign objects or materials that may result in injury.
• If frequent access to inlets and outlets is required, Marion Process Solutions recommends incorporating suitable interlocks to ensure the Mixer is non-operational, at a complete stop and without the possibility of restarting until the machine has again been made safe.
• Mixer inlets and outlets should be fitted with tightly compressed gaskets preventing the escape of dust into the atmosphere around the machine. Depending on the product processed, this dust could become a hazard to health via inhalation or increase the risk of a dust explosion.
• Mixers should receive the product to be processed either from an automatic infeed device that forms parts of the process system or manually via a suitably guarded and safe sack-tip or hopper.
• The Mixer may have been sold for a particular application, environment, feed system or product. If this is the case, the Mixer must not be used under any other circumstances until it has undergone suitable hazard and risk assessments and is declared safe to do so by suitably qualified person.
• Unless the Mixer is supplied as a complete stand-alone unit i.e., with a complete control system, it is the responsibility of others to provide a control system that results in safe operation of the machine.
• Even if rotated manually, the rotating parts within the Mixer can trap or entangle parts of the body, items of clothing or tools, potentially causing injury. Always check it is safe to do so before rotating any part of the machine.
• Under no circumstances should the Mixer be run with any of the control circuits, interlocks or safety devices rendered inoperative, bypassed, defeated or tampered with.
• Under no circumstances should the machine be run with any bolted covers or guards loosened or removed.
• Before opening any access doors, removing any guards or inserting tools or parts of the body into the machine, ensure the Mixer has come to a complete stop and is isolated from all power and pneumatic sources.
• Under no circumstances should pressurised air/gas supplies be disconnected from the machine, always relieve the pressure first or injury may occur.
• Under no circumstances should the machine be run with inlet and outlet connections disconnected from preceding or succeeding equipment nor should any access doors be open or removed.
• Under no circumstances should personnel around the machine be allowed to produce naked flames, sparks or other sources of heat that may lead to ignition of the material being processed or dust explosions.
• Under no circumstances should warning labels be removed from the machine and any damaged or faded labels should be replaced immediately.
• During Mixer operation the temperature of certain parts of the machine will rise. Ensure all safety guards and covers are in place before operating the machine and avoid contact with the machines motor or gearbox during operation. After Mixer shutdown, allow time for the machine to cool before dismantling the machine.
• Avoid touching electric motors. Motors can get hot and can burn if touched by the naked hand.
• Mixers are designed to operate at a fixed speed. On ATEX machines it is important to maintain a rotor blade tip speed below 1m/s. Under no circumstances should the machine be run above the recommended speed. See general arrangement drawing in section C for details.
• Electrical installation and commissioning must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician with knowledge and application of local and nationally appropriate electrical safety standards.
• Any electrical cables from Mixer components such as motors or sensors should be protected from damage. Should any damage occur, this should be reported, the machine shutdown if running and repaired by a suitably qualified electrician before returning the Mixer for service.
• Always ensure suitable sized cables are used to connect to and from the Mixer otherwise melting of cables may occur, potentially releasing toxic fumes into the atmosphere.
• Check the IP rating of any electrical components before cleaning your Mixer. These IP ratings should be adhered to, to prevent electrical fault.
• Where possible, live electrical working should be avoided. Work on or near live conductors should only be permitted in exceptional cases after all other options have been eliminated.
If it has been determined that live working is the only option then this should only be carried out after all the necessary risk assessments and precautions have been put in place as determined by the relevant regulations. Any work must be carried out by someone with comprehensive knowledge of the work at hand and the means of controlling the risk.
